Annual Cap: $2,000 per fiscal year

Limits:

  • 1 credential per year
  • 3 credentials max during first 10 years of service (plus 3 after 10 years)

Lifetime Cap: $4,500

Requirements:

  • Certification must align with member’s AFSC

SF-182 / Government Purchase Card (GPC)

  • DoD civilians
  • Active-duty service members with command/unit-funded training
  • Federal employees eligible for career development funds

What It Covers: Full course cost, materials, exam voucher

Process:

  • Submit SF-182 form for authorization
  • Payment processed by Government Purchase Card (GPC) or direct invoice

DoD 8140/FISMA Compliance

Details: The Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment Act, requires all federal agencies to develop a cyber workforce assessment program for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) standard, the basis for both DoD Instruction 8140 and the Federal Cybersecurity Workforce Assessment Act signed into law. The most common certifications included in the DoD Directive 8570.01 include A+, Network+, Security+, CEH and CISSP.
